to the Slovakia Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery website
The Association of Computing Machinery was founded in 1947 to provide a venue where information, ideas, and discovery can be exchanged between professionals and students in the computing sciences. It is a world’s leading organisation for computing-related professionals with more than 100,000 members worldwide. Its overarching goal is to advance computing as a science and a profession.
Slovakia Chapter of the ACM, established in 2009, aims at facilitating all this both within Slovakia and between Slovakia and rest of the world. It is operated exclusively for educational and scientific purposes within Slovakia
- To advance, to increase knowledge and to increase interest in the science, design, development, construction, languages, management and applications of modern computing or informatics, and more generally, of information sciences and technologies.
- To increase awareness, interest, understanding and support for computing/informatics and more generally, information sciences and technologies and their applications among both professionals and a general public.
- To facilitate a communication between persons having an interest in computing/informatics and more generally, in information sciences and technologies.
Activities of the ACM Slovakia Chapter has over the years included supporting university programming contests at the local and regional level, high school programming contests, student research conferences and research competitions, etc. Between 2009 and 2020, it published Information Sciences and Technologies Bulletin of the ACM Slovakia Chapter, which served as a forum for rapid dissemination of research results.
